Opening ceremonies |
St. Louis, Mo., known as the Gateway to the West, will host the Imperial Council Session in 2008. St. Louis first claimed the honor of being a Session site in 1997. The presence of the St. Louis Shriners Hospital and support from Moolah Shriners make this location an excellent choice.
While in town, you can catch exciting baseball action with Major League Baseball’s 2006 World Series Champions, the St. Louis Cardinals, or be amazed by the view – 630 feet above the Mississippi River – at the top of the Gateway Arch.
History lovers can follow the footsteps of explorers Lewis and Clark at historic attractions around the city or learn about the history of bowling at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Plant lovers will enjoy the 79-acre Missouri Botanical Garden, widely considered one of the top three botanical gardens in the world.
There are several free attractions, including the St. Louis Art Museum – which houses paintings by Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Picasso – Saint Louis Zoo, Saint Louis Science Center and Missouri History Museum. And of course, the area offers plenty of quality shopping and dining options.

Daytime parade |
There will be opportunities for the public to join the Shriners in several events, including the opening ceremonies where fraternal leadership, conference attendees, the public and local dignitaries come together to kickoff the week's events. Families can plan on a great time at the unit competitions where Shriners from the clown groups and motor patrols, to horse patrols and band units, will compete for honors. Of course, there's the annual Shriners parade--a Shriners' specialty. Hundreds of Shriners from all over the U.S. will participate in this fun-filled event.
