George A. Mitchell of Jordan Station, Ontario, Canada, is currently serving his tenth term as a member of the Boards of Directors for Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Mitchell was re-elected during the Shriners’ 2009 annual international convention – or Imperial Council Session – held in San Antonio July 5-9. He serves as Deputy Imperial Potentate, part of the 13-member body that helps govern the Shriners fraternity. Mitchell is also currently serving as chairman of the Imperial Membership Committee.

Mitchell is the president and owner of Mitchell’s Bunsmaster Bakery and Deli and Maple Leaf Investments, and was involved in the motel business and real estate development for several years. He attended St. Catharine’s Collegiate and Vocational School and majored in business at Niagara College. He is a member of St. Catharine’s Business Club and a Kentucky Colonel of Niagara.

Mitchell, who was Potentate of Rameses Shriners in 1997, is a life-member to several Shrine clubs, as well as Adanac Lodge #614, the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies, Knights Templar, the Cabiri and the National Sojourners, Milwaukee Chapter #27. He is Past Master of Lodge of Perfection #616, and a member of Seymour York Rite College #185. Mitchell is also an emeritus member of the board of governors of the Erie Shriners Hospital.

Mitchell and his wife, Deanna, have two sons, a daughter and three grandchildren.
