Burn Care, Rehabilitation and Research
Each year, thousands of children are severely burned and require specialized treatment for their injuries. Since Shriners Hospitals for Children first made the commitment to advancing burn treatment by opening burns centers in the 1960s, over 45,000 children worldwide have received care at the Shriners Hospitals specializing in burn care.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children specializing in burn care are located in Galveston,Texas; Boston and Cincinnati. A fourth hospital in Sacramento, Calif., treats pediatric cases in orthopaedics, spinal cord injury rehabilitation and burn care. The staffs at these hospitals ensure that patients receive complete, personalized care and employ the same interdisciplinary approach used in Shriners Hospitals for Children specializing in orthopaedic care. Our teams include anesthesiologists, pediatricians, psychologists, plastic surgeons, nurses, therapists, child life specialists and nutritionists. ResearchIn order to provide the best, most up-to-date and innovative treatments, Shriners Hospitals for Children has a strong commitment to research in the burn care field.
