More articles have been published by our medical staff than any other orthopaedic hospital in North America. Currently, our physicians have more than 55 ongoing clinical research projects, which is reflective of the successful intellectual effort of our medical staff.

A majority of the physicians on our staff are on the faculty of the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.

Medical Staff Leadership

Perry L. Schoenecker, M.D. Chief of Staff

Dr. Schoenecker has been Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospital since 1977 and is a professor of orthopaedics at Washington University School of Medicine. He is also acting orthopaedic surgeon-in-chief at St. Louis Children�s Hospital. In May of 2006, he was elected President of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).

Margaret M. Rich, M.D., Ph.D Assistant Chief of Staff

Dr. Margaret Rich joined the medical staff at Shriners Hospital in 1991, specializing in treating children with musculoskeletal problems. In 1993, she assumed the highly regarded position of Assistant Chief of Staff. In addition to her medical degree from Northwestern University, Dr. Rich also has a Ph.D in Pathology. Respected by physicians, hospital staff, families, and patients, she's also instrumental in the education of orthopaedic residents from Washington University School of Medicine and University of Kansas in Wichita, KS.
