Meet our Team

Paul Caskey, M.D. 
Chief of Staff

Dr. Caskey graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School with residencies completed at McLaren Regional Medical Center. A fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis was completed at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas and he served as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center.

Glen O. Baird, M.D.
Assistant Chief of Staff
Medical Director, Motion Analysis Lab

Dr. Baird joined the staff of SHC-Spokane in 1999. He completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of Utah School of Medicine and the University of Wisconsin's orthopaedic surgery residency program.

Bryan J. Tompkins, M.D.
Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Tompkins joined our staff in September 2007.  He earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.  Dr. Tompkins completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York.  He is fellowship trained in pediatric orthopaedics at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

William R. Osebold, M.D.
Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Osebold is a graduate of UCLA and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa. He completed a fellowship in orthopaedic biochemistry at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in spine care at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Research Center in Minneapolis. Dr. Osebold has been in private practice in Spokane and joined SHC in 1980. He is on the editorial staff of Spine, an international journal for the study of the spine. He serves as the medical director of the orthotics and prosthetics clinic and provides the orthopaedic care for the myelodysplasia clinic.

Sharon R. Genung, M.D. FAAP
Pediatrician

Dr. Genung received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and completed clinical internship and residency in pediatrics from Fort Wright State University Children's Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. She practiced for 14 years in general pediatrics at Pediatric Associates of Spokane. Prior to that she served as director of medical services at the USAF Hospital at Fairchild Air Force Base.

Roberto A. Auffant, M.D.
Director of Anesthesiology

Dr. Auffant received his medical degree from the Facultad de Medicina, Universidad del Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He completed an anesthesiology residency and fellowship in critical care at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. He also completed a pain management fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Auffant is board certified in anesthesiology with sub boards in pain management and critical care medicine. 

Micheal Fallon, M.D.
Anesthesiologist

Dr. Fallon is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington.  He completed an internship in emergency medicine at Darnall Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas and a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Washington.  He is board certified in anesthesiology and joined our staff in July 2006.

Stephen A. Carlson, M.D.
Anesthesiologist

Dr. Carlson received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego and a fellowship in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children's Hospital in Boston, Mass.  Dr. Carlson is board certified in anesthesiology. He served as a staff anesthesiologist in the Navy for ten years before moving to Spokane where he has practiced locally for the past 13 years.  Dr. Carlson joined SHC-Spokane as a full time anesthesiologist in January 2007.
