A research study that won “Best Paper” at the 2009 Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society Conference was recently published in the journal Gait & Posture.

Mark McMulkin, Ph.D. and Andi Gordon, MPT, of Shriners Hospitals for Children— Spokane submitted the study titled “The Effect of Static Standing Posture on Dynamic Walking Kinematics: Comparison of a Thigh Wand Versus a Patella Marker.” Their work takes a look at marker placement during motion analysis studies.

The project identified marker placements that provide more consistent and accurate measurements of motion during walking, which then assists physicians in making treatment decisions for the child.
