Information for Patients and Families

Visiting Hours

Hospital visiting hours are from are from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. During weekday visitation, all guests are required to sign in at the front desk. On weekends, entry for all visitors is available only through the hospital’s rear entrance, located directly behind the hospital next to the loading dock. A security officer will sign in visitors during weekends. All guests who are not parents or primary caretakers must leave the hospital each day by 8:00 p.m.

Parent/Guardian Visitors

One adult parent or guardian may stay overnight with their child. Only parents or primary caretakers with hospital armbands will be granted access to the hospital after normal visiting hours. For parents/guardians returning to the hospital after 8:00 p.m., please use the rear entrance located next to the loading dock. A security officer will assist you.

For safety reasons, all patients must be supervised in the hospital at all times. If you are leaving your child, please notify hospital staff that you are relinquishing supervision to them. Patients may not leave the hospital without an authorized pass.

Sibling/Children Visitors

Throughout a visit, a parent or a responsible adult visitor must supervise sibling/children visitors. All visitors should be healthy. Visitors who are coughing should ask for a mask or refrain from visiting. Safety precautions should be taken at all times to prevent falls and injuries.

Cafeteria

Family and visitors may purchase meals during cafeteria hours. Breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., and lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The cafeteria is closed for dinner and during weekends. Coffee, tea, and water is available at no charge to family and visitors, and vending machines are located outside the entrance to the cafeteria.

As a service to our families, the hospital will provide up to two free meals for parents/guardians during each weekday dinner. For family members wishing to purchase meals for dinner and on weekends, special arrangements can be made in advance through cafeteria staff.

Safety and Security

Shriners Hospitals for Children® is a tobacco-free environment. Smoking is allowed in designated smoking areas only.

Items containing latex are prohibited due to the potential for severe allergic reactions by some of our patients. Items that might contain latex include balloons (mylar and plastic balloons are allowed), rubber balls, and certain toys and games. Please check with the inpatient unit staff in advance of arriving if you are unsure if a particular item contains latex.

Please refrain from bringing gum, hard candy, or candy/snacks on a stick to patients as such items present a choking hazard for many of our patients.

Hospital security is on-site 24 hours a day, maintaining extensive camera and physical surveillance of the hospital facilities and grounds for the protection of patients, families, and staff.
