Visiting Hours
Daily visiting hours for anyone other than a parent or guardian are from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. All visitors must sign in with the receptionist to receive a visitor’s pass. The pass must be clearly visible at all times throughout the hospital visit. All visitors must be healthy.
Parent/Guardian Visitors
One adult parent or guardian may stay overnight.
For safety reasons, all patients must be supervised in the hospital at all times. A nurse must be notified if you are leaving your child. Patients may not leave the hospital without an authorized pass.
Sibling/Children Visitors
Siblings may visit on the nursing unit, however they must be watched at all times by their parents. All visitors should be healthy.
Cafeteria hours
Breakfast:
7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Lunch:
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Dinner:
4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The cafeteria can only accept checks and cash – no credit or debit cards.
Outside Food
Check with a nurse before bringing any food or drink into the patient’s room. Patients being prepared for surgery may not be allowed to eat or drink. Parents may only provide outside food for their own child. Due to Federal and State regulations, food brought in for patients from a store or restaurant must be in its original container.
What Costs Are Covered
- Clinic visits, teatments and tests completed at Shriners Hospitals for Children
- Admission for surgery
- Orthotics and prosthetics ordered and made on-site
- Therapy and services performed in-house
What Costs Are Not Covered
- Wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment (The hospital will make efforts to find other resources in addition to providing seating evaluations and minor repairs)
- Medications for home use
- Therapy services provided outside of the hospital
- Any prosthetic made outside of the hospital
- Transportation and lodging. If you need assistance with travel, please contact local Shriners for assistance. Sometimes they are able to help. The hospital's care coordinator can put you in touch with local Shriners.

Telephones and Electronic Devices
Patient/parent use of hospital phones is limited. If you need to make a long distance phone call, you will need to use a calling card or call collect. Cell phones and other wireless devices may be used throughout the hospital, including patient rooms. Cell phones are prohibited in the Recovery Room or the Special Care Unit.
All videotapes/DVDs brought in for patients use must be appropriate for age of children viewing. Televisions are for patients' viewing and channel selected must be appropriate for age viewing. Loud music is not allowed. It is preferred that radios have earphones.
If you need computer access during your hospital stay, computers are available in the lobby and school room. The hospital does not currently have public wi-fi access.
No photographs of other children may be taken.
Safety
Latex
Items containing latex (rubber) are prohibited from the hospital because of severe allergic reactions by some of our patients. Those items include latex balloons, rubber balls, and certain toys and games. If you have questions about an item, please ask before arriving at the hospital.
Smoking
Smoking is not allowed inside the hospital or within 25 feet of the building. A smoking facility is available at the back of the hospital off the second floor.
The hospital is locked for security purposes every night from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. To gain access to the hospital after hours, please push the security page button at the front lobby entrance. Rooming-in parents need to have their parent pass identification to access the hospital after hours.
