Volunteer Process

Step One – The Application Process

Volunteer applications are available at the hospital or you can call volunteer services at (801) 536–3711 and ask that an application be mailed to you.  Volunteers must:
  • Be 16 years of age or older
  • Provide two references
  • Commit to one shift per week or a minimum total hours as follows:
  • Non-Students – 75 hours
  • Students – 50 hours
  • Complete an interview/orientation with the hospital’s volunteer coordinator.
Step Two – Meeting the Health Requirements
  • All hospital volunteers must be screened for tuberculosis
  • Volunteers must be immunized or provide a vaccination record to show they have been immunized for mumps and pertussis
  • Volunteers must pass a drug test and background check
Step Three – Volunteer Placement

Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:
  • Recreational therapy – evening and weekend recreation activities for the patients
  • Inpatient nursing department
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Physical and occupational therapy
  • Transportation – driving patients and their families in hospital vehicles to and from the airport, hotels and medical appointments
  • Reception desk – greeting and assisting visitors at the front lobby
  • Clerical support
  • Special events
  • Sewing
