Development and Donor Relations
Continuing the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children

Shriners Hospitals for Children depends upon the generosity of philanthropic supporters to help us continue our three-pronged mission of patient care, research and medical education.

The development and donor relations office at the Portland Shriners Hospital assists donors in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and Alaska, reaching out to individuals, foundations and organizations for financial support.

Why do Shriners Hospitals need financial support? We

 are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
do not charge patients or their families for services delivered.
do not seek reimbursement from insurance companies for services delivered.
do not rely on local, state or federal government funding.
serve tens of thousands of children and young people with complex and chronic conditions requiring years of treatment 835,000 since 1922!
provide additional services such as transportation and accommodations to patient families.
conduct innovative medical research that changes the lives of children and young people throughout the world.
educate thousands of physicians and clinicians in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injury and cleft lip and palate repair.
