Development and Donor Relations
Shriners Hospitals for Children depends upon the generosity of our supporters to help continue our mission of patient care, research and medical education.
The development and donor relations office at the Portland Shriners Hospital assists donors in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and Alaska, reaching out to individuals, foundations and organizations for financial support.
Why does Shriners Hospitals need financial support? Shriners Hospitals:
- is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization
- does not charge patients or their families for services
- does not seek reimbursement from insurance companies for services
- does not rely on local, state or federal government funding
- serves tens of thousands of children and young people with complex and chronic conditions requiring years of treatment
- provides additional services such as transportation and accommodations to patient families
- conducts innovative medical research that changes the lives of children and young people throughout the world
- educates thousands of physicians and clinicians in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injury and cleft lip and palate repair
