Three Shriners Hospitals Physicians Named "Top Docs" by Philadelphia Magazine

Top honors were awarded to three physicians at Shriners Hospitals for Children- Philadelphia, in Philadelphia Magazine’s annual medical issue, which hit the newsstands in April. The Top Doctors issue focuses on area physicians choosing the "best of their peers.”
Under the category of orthopaedics, Chief of Staff Randal R. Betz, M.D., was chosen as top doctor for his specialty of treating children with spinal cord injuries and for his use of functional electrical stimulation (FES).
Under the category of hand surgery, Scott H. Kozin, M.D., was chosen for his specialty in treating children with congenital deformities, most especially brachial plexus palsy.
This year there was a new category, Physicians Age 40 and Under, and neurosurgeon Amer Samdani M.D., was selected for this honor.
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., an independent research and publishing company, conducted this medical survey. Their goals were to survey physicians and find doctors who are at the peak of their profession - “to bring you the local doctors other doctors say they’d choose to tend to turn to their own families,” said Sandy Hingston of Philadelphia Magazine.
