Joint Commission Statement
Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC) in the U.S. are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO standards deal with hospital quality, safety-of-care issues, and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. SHC is committed to meeting JCAHO standards in all these areas. SHC has an open door policy. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about care received at SHC, please contact hospital administration at (713) 793-3831.

In addition, if you do not feel your safety concerns are addressed adequately by hospital leadership, you can contact the Texas Department of Health by calling the complaint line at (888) 973-0022. If the issue is not resolved by the Hospital, you are always free to contact JCAHO directly to raise your concerns. In addition, the Houston hospital will have an unannounced survey by the JCAHO every three years to assess their compliance to the standards. Anyone believing that he/she has pertinent and valid information about such matters may contact the JCAHO.
