Visiting Hours
Daily visiting hours for those other than the parents or guardian are from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. These hours
are extended only under special conditions. For patients attending
school, visits should occur after 2:15 p.m. All visitors must sign in
with the receptionist to receive a visitor's pass.
Parent/Guardian Visitors
One adult parent or guardian may stay overnight. On the
day of surgery, parents and close relatives may arrive as early as 6:30
a.m. to be with a child prior to surgery.
For safety reasons, all patients must be supervised in
the hospital at all times. If you are leaving your child, please notify
hospital staff that you are relinquishing supervision to them. Patients
may not leave the hospital without an authorized pass.
Sibling/Children Visitors
Throughout a visit, a parent or a responsible adult
visitor must supervise sibling/children visitors. Siblings may visit on
the nursing unit. All other visitors must be at least 10 years old, and
those under 16 years old must have adult supervision at all times. All
visitors should be healthy. Visitors who are coughing should ask for a
mask or refrain from visiting.
Safety precautions should be taken at all times to prevent falls and injuries.
Cafeteria Hours
Family visitors may purchase meals at times posted outside cafeteria. The cafeteria is closed between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and reopens from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for dinner
Safety Guidelines
Each patient will sleep in his/her own bed/crib.
Each parent will sleep in his/her own chair, not in the child's bed.
During sleep time, keep side rails raised on the bed/crib.
Patient Bedtime:
Patients under 6 years of age 8:00 p.m.
Patients 7 years to 9 years 8:30 p.m.
Patients 10 years to 12 years 9:00 p.m.
Patients 13 years and older 10:00 p.m.
* Rooming-in parent to be here by 10:00 p.m. and have parent pass identification.
Food
For medical reasons, visitors should not give food or
drink to any patient unless they have received permission from the
nurse. Food brought in must be checked first by a nurse. It should be
store bought. We do not allow home cooked foods to be brought to the
hospital for any patients. The parent or visitor may bring home cooked
food for their consumption, but not for patients. No food or drink may
be left in patient's room. Take leftovers with you or
they will be discarded. Visitors may not eat in the wards.
Gifts
Limit to small, inexpensive items. The hospital is not
responsible for lost belongings. For safety reasons, do not bring
suckers, hard candy, gum or rubber balloons.
Telephone, TV, Radios, VCR
Phones are used by hospital staff. Therefore.
Patient/parent use of phones is limited. We take messages only in
emergencies. Please ask which phones may be used for long distance
(collect and calling card) calls.
All videotapes brought in for patients use must be
appropriate for age of children viewing. Check with charge nurse.
Televisions are for patients' viewing and channel selected must be
appropriate for age viewing. Loud music is not allowed. It is preferred
that radios have earphones.
Photos: No photographs of other children may be taken.
Safety and Security
Smoking is permitted on hospital property in designated areas only.
The hospital is locked for security purposes from 8:00
p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
on weekends and holidays. To gain access to the hospital after hours,
please ring the doorbell at the front lobby entrance. Rooming-in
parents need to be in the hospital before 10 p.m. and have their parent
pass identification.
