SHC-Greenville volunteers are important. With the help of volunteers, the Greenville Shriners Hospital has provided the very best pediatric orthopaedic care to nearly 50,000 children since opening in 1927, all at no cost to our patients' families. SHC-Greenville volunteers are needed. The hospital could not achieve its mission of providing the best health care for children possible without volunteers. Volunteers are needed to serve in departments throughout the hospital assisting with patient care, clerical duties, and special services. The volunteer services department strives to match volunteers with assignments suited to the volunteer�s individual talents and interests. SHC-Greenville volunteers are appreciated. Making a difference in the life of a child is a precious gift volunteers bring to our patients. Although there is no way to adequately thank volunteers for all they do, in appreciation of their service, volunteers receive annual service awards, free annual flu shots, annual events and outings, meals at the hospital while volunteering, and a monthly volunteer newsletter.How to become a VolunteerTo apply for regular volunteer status, you should be at least 18 years of age. If you are between the ages of 14-18 years, check out the Summer VolunTEEN information below. Apply to be a volunteer by downloading the application on this page, filling out the application completely, and mailing it to: Volunteer Services Department For the protection of our patients, volunteers are screened thoroughly before being placed. This includes written reference checks, a personal interview and background checks. All volunteers go through an orientation to make sure they are familiar with hospital policies. Some positions require special instruction and on-the-job training. Volunteer Brochure (pdf) Volunteer Application (pdf) Summer VolunTEENsEach summer the hospital has openings for a limited number of 14-18 year old volunteers known as VolunTEENS. Only the most qualified teenage applicants are selected to be VolunTEENS. Some of the attributes we are looking for are: scholastic aptitude, motivation, a sincere desire to help others and a positive attitude. VolunTEEN applications are due by May 1 each year and selections are announced by the first week of June. To learn more, contact the volunteer services department at (864) 255-8754.
