Housing and Transportation

Rooming-in

We understand that the presence of a parent or family member is very important during a child's hospital stay. The Galveston hospital encourages one parent or guardian to room-in with the child and will provide a sleeping chair, linens and shower facilities for the convenience of the staying parent.

Additionally, our hospital has four on-site apartments. These apartments are assigned based on the approval of the physician and case manager.

Local Housing

There are a variety of housing options used by our families and the housing & transportation department. Discounts to some of these facilities are given to our patients and a family member through the sponsorship of the Shriners fraternity.

If your local Shriners or other charitable organization has offered assistance with your hotel expenses, contact the housing coordinator at 409-770-6645 at least one to two weeks prior to your clinic appointment to make the necessary arrangements.

Transportation

We provide scheduled transportation to and from Hobby Airport and Bush Intercontinental. You can arrange for pick-ups by calling the transportation coordinator at 409-770-6724.

For emergency transportation and admission, referring physicians should call our resource nurse or physician. Once the child is approved for admission, the resource nurse will handle the arrangements necessary for emergency transport to our hospital. Physicians or resource nurses may call our ICU at 409-770-6902.
