Expert Pediatric Burn Treatment and Rehabilitation
At the Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Cincinnati, all of our attention and resources are focused on just one kind of patient — the burn-injured child.
Our hospital combines excellent clinical skill, compassionate care, and innovative research, providing comprehensive pediatric burn care and reconstructive rehabilitation to achieve the best possible outcome for a child that has suffered a burn injury.
The hospital is equipped and staffed to treat the following:
- Acute burns
- Inhalation burns
- Plastic reconstructive or restorative surgery for "healed" burns" and pediatric burn case management
- Severe scarring, resulting in contracture or interfering with mobility of the limbs
- Scarring and deformity of the face
- Brachial plexus
- Congenital hairy nevus
- Port wine stain and hemangiomas
- Gynecomastia
- Congenital ear deformities
- Craniofacial anomalies
- Microsurgery and hand surgery
- Complex wounds and acute skin tissue injuries/infection, such as: necrotizing skin infections and necrotizing faciitis, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TENS), purpura fulminans
Either a family member or a physician can call the hospital with patient information to discuss transferring the patient to the Cincinnati Shriners Hospitals for Children® or to make an appointment for non-emergency cases.
Depending on the patient's condition and transportation available, every effort will be made to get the child to the hospital as soon as possible. Please call (800) 875-8580 and ask for the charge nurse. The nurse can answer all your questions about bringing a child to the hospital for treatment.
