Spinal cord injuries are among the most devastating injuries a person can sustain. For children and adolescents with spinal cord injuries, meeting developmental, social and educational needs appropriately is an essential facet of rehabilitation. Many young people with spinal cord injuries are treated in an environment that is expert in SCI rehabilitation or expert in pediatrics. Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago is expert at both.
Shriners-Chicago offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, all at no charge to the patients or parent, the government or insurers. The spinal cord injury rehabilitation program is well-established, with a solid, quarter-century track record that works to maximize the function of patients in their homes, schools, communities and the workplace.
