On-site and Local Accommodations
In the hospital We believe that a parent's presence during a child's hospital stay is very reassuring. We welcome one parent/guardian to room in with their child or to stay in one of the hospital's hotel-like parent rooms. We provide a single bed or reclining chair, bed linens and shower facilities for the convenience of the parent staying. Near Shriners-Chicago Ronald McDonald House near Loyola, about five miles (13 minutes) from the hospital, provides accommodations for families of Shriners patients. A variety of Chicago-area hotels also provide special rates for patients and families being treated at Shriners. Please contact care coordination at (773) 385-5450 for additional information regarding local accommodations and transportation. Local TransportationTransportation for Shriners patients and their families from outside the Chicago metro area is often provided by Shriner-drivers, organized by their local Shriners. For more information about this service, contact your local Shriners or the care coordination office (773) 385-5450 several weeks before your visit.
Shriners, Chicago is located on the Milwaukee West Metra Line (regular rail) and about two miles from the CTA Elevated ("EL") Green Line (light rail). Both train lines go directly to downtown Chicago. The hospital utilizes two local cab companies for those patients and families who do not have their own transportation: Blue cab: (708) 383-2121 Business cards for each are available at the hospital front desk. 6/07
